Each step hurts as Jean makes her way across the streets of Mauville. After a Pokemon encounter in the outer routes of the city, she found herself burnt, bruised, and regretful. She had known she was in over her head, yet she had still taken the risk. And now she needed medical support. Fast. [break][break]

“Crap,” she winces as her Frogadier rolls in her arms, their leg brushing over a burn on her arm causing Jean to stumble slightly. She clenches her jaw. [break][break]

“Hold tight girl. We’re almost there.” [break][break]

With a shove, she pushes the Life Dew Pharmacy’s door open with her shoulder, a jingle sounding above her alerting those inside of her presence. She peers across the room to see a young woman by the counter and makes her away across as quickly as she can. [break][break]

“Excuse me. Miss,” she grimaces, scrunching her face at the pain spreading across her own body. She knew she looked like hell. Charred and blackened with soot and burns. But the creature in her arms mattered more, and she needed to know they were okay before focusing on herself. [break][break]

“My Frogadier. She’s hurt. Do you have anything that could help?” She stands in front of the counter, her arms cradling her friend tightly as she attempts to pull together a friendly albeit pained smile.

[attr="class","maribel"]It was a slow day at life dew pharmacy. Days like these gave Maribel time to work on her studies, a large pharmaceutical textbook on the counter beside her. She looked up abruptly as the doorway jingled.

”Welcome to Life Dew Pharmacy! How can I help- oh!”

She quickly abandoned her book, rushing to the back of the counter and grabbing a medical supply kit and a few potions.

”Please, come back here!” The door to the back opened, and she ushered the girl and her frogadier inside.

First, she attended to the Pokemon, who seemed knocked out. A few spritzes of the potion eased the most shallow wounds, but she was sure the Pokemon would need to go into the rester. ”Please put your Pokemon in its ball. I’ll put it in to rest.”

Next, Maribel turned her attention to Jean. ”Where are you hurt the worst?”

She follows Maribel through the door, holding out her Frogadier to her so she can help easier. She watches as she immediately begins to work, impressed that she knows what all the potions and medicines even do. It was her job to know, Jean considered inwardly, but it must be a lot to remember.[break][break]

“In its ball?” Jean’s eyebrows scrunch together before realisation dawns on her face and her eyes widen. [break][break]

“Shit! I should have done that sooner, shouldn’t I?” [break][break]

Readjusting her grip on her Frogadier, she pulls out the Poké Ball in her pocket. She’d forgotten that was the best place for them to be when hurt. She’d been too overwhelmed with worry to realise. [break][break]

“Sorry girl.” She clicks the red button, transporting her Pokémon inside, and hands the ball over. [break][break]

Knowing her Pokémon was in good hands, Jean leans her body against the door frame and takes a deep breath. At Maribel’s question, she points a finger at herself, confused. [break][break]

“Me?” [break][break]

She looks down at herself, lifting one scorched arm, then the other, and notes the tears and holes in her shirt across her torso. She grimaces as pain aches across her body before shooting the girl a wry smile. [break][break]

“Everywhere?” She responds sheepishly. [break][break]

“I’ll be alright. Frogadier was my priority. I can just slap some oil on the burns or something when I get home. Plus, do you even have things for people here? Isn’t it all… Pokémon stuff?”

[attr="class","maribel"]"I-it's okay! The most important thing is we've handled the worst and need to give her time to get better!" Maribel was quick to try and relieve some of the tension, swallowing hard as her eyes flitted around nervously.

Then, she covered her face, embarrassment coloring her cheeks.

"That was stupid of me. I shouldn't have asked you that! I can clearly see that you're just as bad off. I'm sorry!" Her voice picked up in speed and pitch as she apologized.

Though, Maribel was quick to shake her head. "We serve to human population as well! We need specific medicines too, right?" Digging through the first aid kit, she pulled out a handful of wrapped gauze, some tape, disinfectant, and ointment.

She was quick to go to the sink, turning on the water and suds-ing up a wash rag. "Do you mind if I clean your wounds? It might sting."

She finds herself a stool to sit down on, releasing a sigh as she relaxes her limbs. A certain burn on her forehead throbs and she rubs it with edge of her palm. Glancing over at Mirabel, her eyes widen at her flushed cheeks and Jean stammers, waving her hand dismissively. [break][break]
“No, no! Please don’t apologise. It’s fine. You’re not stupid,” she cracks a lopsided smile. [break][break]
“If anyone’s stupid here it’s me. I got me and Frogadier in this situation in the first place. Should have learnt my lesson and left that damn Charizard alone.” [break][break]
She takes in a sharp breath, trying to shake away the guilt of accidentally upsetting someone. She really needed to be better at cracking jokes, especially in situations like this.[break][break]
Thinking of a way to change the conversation, Jean raises her eyebrows in surprise at Mirabel’s words. [break][break]
“ Oh really? I mean, of course, we need medicines and things but… Why did I think they were in separate places…” She scratches her chin, contemplating, then shrugs nonchalantly. Having them in the same place was more convenient anyway. [break][break]
“Yeah, of course. I’d appreciate that. I can handle it. Can’t hurt anymore than being actually burned, right?” [break][break]
She rolls her shoulders back and grits her teeth, preparing. [break][break]
“You been working here long, or?” she asks, hoping being distracted will help with the pain.
